Things Remembered began over 40 years ago as a small engraving and services in Ohio. They have since grown into the nation’s leading, and most successful, retailer of personalized gifts. The company prides itself on their longevity in the retail business and are committed to offering beautiful and unique personalized gifts to their customers. Things Remembered broadcasts several seasonal promotions to their email list of 100,000+ in advance of events such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and high school graduations. For Mother’s Day 2005, Things Remembered called on DreamType to create an email which engaged the recipient by presenting a personalized message on a featured Mother’s Day product. 50,000 customers received the personalized version of the email, which also encouraged the user to click-thru to “Personalize Your Own Heart”. Once the user clicked on the link, they were taken to a special interactive micro-site where they could instantly preview different messages engraved on the featured heart-shaped box. This feature was wildly popular to visitors of the micro site. As a result of the heightened interactivity and feelings of instant gratification that the DreamType-powered microsite delivered, the average purchase price (determined by the number of characters engraved) for customers from the variable group was 15% higher
